"The Goodness of the Institution" (December 1999)
As the new year begins, so begins the new term for the officers of our Masonic Lodges. Just as the seasons surely transform one to another, so too do the terms of offices for the officers of our Lodges.
We, as members of the Institution of Free and Accepted Masons, share many of the obligations that the the newly elected and appointed Lodge Officers have accepted by the virtue of their office. From the Installing Officer to the newly elected Worshipful Master comes this admonition, which directly applies to each of us:
"Charge them to practice out of the Lodge those duties which they have been taught in it; and, by amiable, virtuous and discreet conduct, to convince mankind of the goodness of the Institution; so that when a person is said to be a member of it, the world may know that he is one to whom the burdened heart may pour out its sorrow; to whom distress may prefer its suit; whose hand is guided by justice, and whose heart is expanded by benevolence."
As the new terms begin, let us show our support to our new Masters and Wardens for their generous efforts by increased participation, words of support and encouragement, and the practice of Thy precepts, so that we may "convince mankind of the goodness of the Institution."
The following Installation dates have been announced for the Lodges in District 4:
