Greetings Brethren,
The last couple of months have personally been difficult for me to adjust to, as well as it may be for many of you. My friend and mentor, VWB Bob J. Jensen passed away on October 22, 2007 at age 67 after a battle with cancer. Bob was a mentor and a role model for the good and pureness we as Masons should strive for. Among his many Masonic accomplishments, he was Grand Historian for 1993-1994, twice a Past Master of Occidental Lodge No. 72 in 1969 and 2000, Past Master of Walter F. Meier Lodge of Research No. 281 in 1994, Secretary of Walter F. Meier from 1995-2003, and our Deputy of the Grand Master in District Four for 2001-2003. These were titles he well deserved and earned among us. His passions however were a love of history, our fraternity, and engrossing himself as a tireless researcher and writer on many Masonic topics. I never knew Bob to come to a meeting of my Lodge (or others), where he didn’t have a handful of papers and bulletins to pass out to those he thought might enjoy reading them. In my mind, the award he earned that best resembled his love of Masonic research and writing was the George R. Bordewick Literary Achievement Award he received in 1998 from Walter F. Meier Lodge of Research No. 281. Many of us can credit Bob with inspiring us to become students of Masonic study and becoming members of this Lodge. Bob will truly be missed. He truly lived respected, and died regretted.
A very nice Celebration of Life for Bob was hosted by Occidental Lodge No. 72 on Sunday, November 4th. Thank you all to the many that responded and were able to be there.
On a much lighter note, here is wishing all of you a warm and Happy Holidays. Congratulations to the Lodges and officers in our District who have been elected or installed into office. Here is the list of installations taking place in December. Please pay them all a visit and enjoy the company and companionship of friends to be found in our Lodges. God bless.
