2008 Masonic Scholarship Program
Depending on income and interest earned, scholarships of $1,000 each are given annually. In 2008, District Four will be giving 10 graduating students of Ballard, Ingraham, Nathan Hale, and Roosevelt high schools who choose to attend a public college or university one of these one-time scholarships, and one deserving student will earn a 4 year scholarship of $1,000 each year. The scholarships are given primarily based on financial need. The applicants are evaluated on criteria that measure the student's commitment to school and community service, plans for future studies and careers, as well as their academic achievements. The applicants do not have to be related to anyone in the Masonic fraternity.
During January - March application forms are made available to counselors of these high schools. Graduating students are encouraged to see their counselor and pick up the application forms, or download them from this web site. The completed forms must be returned to the secretary of the scholarship committee usually around the end of March. This year they must be postmarked by March 28, 2008.

The applicants who receive scholarships are recognized for their efforts at an annual Awards Ceremony put on by the District Four Lodges. The students, parents, and family, as well as school teachers, counselors, and principals are invited to attend as guests. It is a very special evening for these young people as well as the Masons of District Four. This year, the Awards Ceremony will be held at the Greenwood Masonic Center.

During February, letters to all members of the Lodges in District Four are sent requesting monetary support of the Masonic Scholarship program. Your donations support this effort by building the principle which in turn results in a larger interest income and a larger and more rewarding annual program. The 2008 letter to District Four Masons has been sent out, but if you want an electronic copy of it, click here (102Kb .pdf format). Thank you very much for your support, and should you have questions, please contact the Master or committee men of your Lodge, or the District webmaster can pass it along for you.
